Mr. Mohammed Ali Shariff has more than 16 years of experience in the Management Consulting and Information Technology Industries. He has built significant expertise in the areas of Vision and Business Strategy development; Due Diligence; Opportunity Assessment & Feasibility Studies; Performance / Service Delivery Improvement; Evaluation of programmes; Procurement and Business Restructuring.

Prior to joining Mount Judi Ventures, Mr. Shariff was a Director with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP, which is the Indian member firm of Deloitte, the largest professional services firm in the world. During his 6.5 years tenure at Deloitte, Mr. Shariff was part of the team focusing on the Education Skills and Development sector. Prior to that, Ali worked for 5 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers India Pvt. Ltd. in the Public sector practice. Some of his core experience related to conducting market assessment and preparing entry / growth strategies for a multitude of Foreign and Indian players. Ali also assisted the National Skill Development Corporation to conduct Business, Technical & Financial Due Diligence of Proposals in Skill Development Space over a period of 4 years covering almost all states in India. For SIDBI, Ali led the project to support micro-entrepreneurship among women and for NABARD, Ali was part of the team that conducted Market assessment and designed financial products for them to enter the Natural Resources Management sector. Ali has led various macro-economic studies at state and national level, including assisting the state of Karnataka to approach for the 12th five year plan, preparing the Vision 2020 for the state of Karnataka, District level skill gap studies for 11 states across India, Sectoral Skill studies in the Information Technology and the Mining sectors in India etc. For various public sector organizations in the fields of Development of Wakf properties, Manufacturing, Industrial Development and Urban development, Ali has led projects for the preparation of vision and business strategy development. This work involved thorough diagnostics followed by identifying business models, organizational design, financial modeling, market approach, risk assessment etc and in some cases, even preparing operational and financial manuals. Ali has helped a few private sector organizations to conceptualize, design, and implement their Corporate Social Responsibility mandates. Ali has significant experience in process improvement having worked on projects relating to service delivery improvement in anganwadi centres, preparing Standard Operation Procedures for Days Schools and Universities, among others.

Prior to this, Ali worked in Yantra Corporation where he worked in the Order Management and Warehouse Management areas, having worked across various roles including implementation consultant, performance engineer, QA engineer and Developer. Ali worked in USA and UK during this 4 year stint.

Ali has further actively been interested in the space of economic development and self- sufficiency at the grassroots. He, along with many philanthropists and volunteers, have been operating a not-for-profit, interest free micro-financing model across 15 slums in Bengaluru serving 1600 families. Ali designed the operational model in 2007 and is currently the general secretary of The Lifeline Foundation Trust which runs the scheme, while carrying out other charitable activities focusing on education and healthcare alongside. Ali is also a trustee at HBS hospital, which is a low-cost, not-for- profit model running since 2012. HBS operates one of the largest Dialysis units in Bengaluru (36 machines) at the least price of Rs 650 per dialysis, thereby reducing the financial burden on patients by approx. Rs 2 crores each year as compared to other charitable hospitals.

Ali has done his PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) and has done his second Masters in Development Management from London School of Economics (LSE) in UK. Ali has also done a one year certification in Managerial Communication from Harvard University in USA. Ali was the first rank holder in Industrial Engineering & Management for Bangalore University.
